Quito Subway

The city of Quito, Ecuador, is immersed in the construction of its first subway line, which is expected to be inaugurated in the coming months and will constitute the first subway transportation network.

The construction of this first metro line was awarded to Acciona Infraestructuras. At Alumigraf we are working on this project for the first line of the Quito Metro, contributing our knowledge and experience in the field of Braille inscriptions, signage and accessibility.

We have provided Metro de Quito with a series of signage elements that allow the visually impaired to find their way around.

Braille inscription for Metro de Quito handrailsThe handrails and railings of the metro stations have a series of plaques with Braille inscriptions in relief, which indicate if the person reading them is in which station he/she is, the direction he/she is going and other information that allows him/her to locate and orient him/herself in a correct way.

Let’s remember that each territory has its own accessibility regulations for public buildings, which means that they must take care of a series of factors, also for visually impaired people. In this post we made a summary of the applicable regulations regarding the accessibility of public buildings in the Basque Country.

In addition, we must remember that this project that we have delivered in Ecuador joins our previous experience in the accessibility project of the Madrid Metro.

If you are interested in taking care of the accessibility of a project in a public building, Alumigraf can help you. Get in touch with us.
