Anodized

Anodized aluminum is a chemical process by which the surface of aluminum is modified to form a protective layer of aluminum oxide.

The main advantages are:

  • Greater abrasion resistance
  • Corrosion protection
  • Surface uniformity and maintenance of the metallic appearance after printing
  • Extension of the useful life of the material

Thanks to the integration of the different production processes, at Alumigraf we print any design that the job requires before the anodic layer finishes sealing, so that the printing on our control panels and keypads and identification and characteristics plates are protected. by this layer of aluminum oxide.

Hardness 9/10 on the Mohs scale, higher than stainless steel

The anodic layer

The porous and transparent layer on the surface of aluminum constitutes the anodic layer and arises thanks to the anodizing process.

This properly sealed layer is twenty times more resistant to wear than a good epoxy layer, giving our products greater resistance.

Anodic layer quality

The electrolytically treated but not sealed anodic layer has great absorption capacity thanks to its micro pores, this allows coloring using pigments (ink).

The anodic layer tends to “deteriorate” under conditions of ambient temperature and humidity, as it reacts to moisture by expanding (width-wide) and closing the pore.

This creates a layer of aluminum hydroxide, reducing the absorption capacity and permanently sealing it.

If before said sealing, we print the design we need, the pigment is “encapsulated” within the anodic layer.

Colored anodized aluminum

In the same way, with the anodic layer before final sealing, it is possible to color the entire piece by immersing it in dye.

In this way it is possible to color machined aluminum parts without losing the metallic appearance of aluminum.

Anodizing parts

We are manufacturers of various product lines such as control panels, nameplates or signage. But one of the services that we receive the most is anodizing parts.

Those clients who want to give greater hardness to their products, increasing their durability and useful life, use our parts anodizing service.

Anodized aluminum production process

Aluminum

It is made from raw aluminum and special alloys for anodizing and decorating.

Anodized

The anodizing process generates a very hard, transparent and porous layer of aluminum oxide

Impression

The pore created is used to print or color the desired design, introducing the ink into the structure of the oxide itself.

Sealed

Once the decoration is finished, the pore is definitively sealed by hydrating the surface.

Frosted

Homogeneous scratching process in order to achieve very original surface finishes.

Laminate

Surface protection process of the substrate on which the printing has been made by applying a self-adhesive plastic protective sheet. This laminate can be cold or with heat application. Depending on the needs of each product, this process can be a good solution to protect the print against wear and tear from everyday use.

Resinated

Process with double functionality. It offers a very good aesthetic, giving volume to the printed plate or emblem and at the same time, it offers extra protection against wear caused, for example, by inclement weather. Polyurethane resin is a treatment approved by the automotive industry that offers outdoor durability without apparent wear for at least 7 years outdoors in the Central European area.
