Polycarbonate Front Panels

Polycarbonate front panels are printed and die-cut pieces that serve as graphical interface on electronic equipment, appliances and industrial machinery.

  • Material: polycarbonate (PC) from 125 to 500 microns
  • Printing: screen printing (resistant inks) or UV digital
  • Die-cutting of windows for displays, LEDs and buttons
  • Finishes: matt, gloss, selective textures, anti-fingerprint varnish
  • Sectors: electromedicine, consumer electronics, industry, automotive

Polycarbonate front panels: function and technical characteristics

A polycarbonate front panel acts as the graphical housing of a device: it indicates to the user the position of controls, displays and connections, while protecting internal components from external agents. They are manufactured from polycarbonate sheets between 125 and 750 microns, printed by screen printing or digital reverse printing so that the exposed surface remains smooth and the ink protected against abrasion.

Polycarbonate offers optical transparency in windows for LCD screens or LED indicators, impact resistance superior to acrylic, and thermal stability in ranges from -40°C to +120°C. These properties make it the reference material for front panels in sectors such as automation, electromedicine, HVAC and telecommunications.

Manufacturing process and available finishes

Production includes multicolour printing with precise registration, contour and aperture die-cutting, and optionally selective texturing or transparent windows with colour filters. The rear adhesive, typically high-adhesion 3M films, allows the panel to be fixed directly onto the device housing without screws or auxiliary frames.

Finishes range from anti-glare matt for high-light environments to satin gloss for consumer products. Tactile elements are also integrated, such as embossing in pressing zones or rough textures for grip areas.
