Cable adhesive labels: organised identification of installations

Correct cable identification is mandatory in electrical installations, data networks, telecommunications and industrial control systems. Cable adhesive labels allow each conductor to be marked with its circuit, function, destination or reference code, facilitating maintenance, fault location and future extensions without needing to trace the physical cable route.

Several formats exist depending on diameter and environment: flag-type labels that fold onto themselves leaving information visible on both sides, wrap-around labels that completely surround the cable, and flat labels for harnesses and cable trays. The most widely used material is polyester or nylon, resistant to operating temperatures from −40°C to +120°C, oils, solvents and mechanical abrasion.

Standards and compatibility

Cable labels comply with standards such as UNE-EN 62491 (cable and conductor labelling) and are compatible with thermal transfer printers that generate texts, barcodes and sequential numbering on site.
