Anodised Aluminium Plates

Anodised aluminium plates feature a surface hardened by electrolysis that resists scratching, corrosion and discolouration, maintaining a uniform finish for years.

  • Surface hardness: 400-600 HV (superior to steel)
  • Colours by electrolytic dyeing: gold, black, red, blue, bronze
  • UV resistance: does not fade outdoors
  • Standard for industrial identification plates

Additional information

  • Anodic layer thicknesses by application (10μ interior, 20μ exterior)
  • Standard UNE-EN ISO 7599 (architectural anodising)

Anodised aluminium sheets: what anodising is and what it offers

Anodising is an electrochemical process that converts the surface layer of aluminium into aluminium oxide (alumina), an extremely hard (up to 70 HRC) and chemically stable ceramic material. The resulting anodised sheet gains resistance to scratching, abrasion and corrosion, without altering the mechanical properties of the base metal.

The thickness of the anodised layer varies according to the application: decorative anodising (5-15 microns) for interiors, hard anodising (25-50 microns) for industrial parts subject to mechanical wear. Anodised aluminium sheets can be coloured during the process in shades ranging from black, bronze and gold to red, blue or green, without the need for surface paint.

Anodised aluminium sheets for signage and identification

Anodised aluminium sheets are the preferred support for industrial identification plates, machinery signage and interior labelling. Anodised aluminium sheet accepts laser engraving that selectively removes the colour layer, leaving a sharp contrast between the engraved text (natural silver aluminium) and the coloured background. This contrast is permanent and does not degrade with cleaning or exposure to light.

Anodised aluminium sheets are supplied in thicknesses from 0.5 to 2 mm and in standard or custom-cut formats. Anodised aluminium plates are particularly popular in corporate signage (directories, door plates, floor indicators) for their sober and professional finish.

Advantages over other finishes

Unlike paint or printing, the colour of anodising penetrates the structure of the metal and cannot be detached. This means that the anodised aluminium sheet maintains its original appearance without peeling, blistering or discolouration even outdoors. In addition, the anodised surface is not electrically conductive, making it a useful surface insulator in electronic applications.
