Commemorative plate design: elements and composition
Commemorative plate design balances aesthetics and functionality. A well-resolved plate includes the commemorative text with legible typeface, the logo or coat of arms of the promoting entity, the event date and, optionally, graphic elements such as decorative borders, fillets or allegorical illustrations. The composition must be clean and hierarchical, with the main message highlighted and secondary data in a smaller body.
Common materials are stainless steel (maximum weather resistance), brass (classic golden tone) and anodised aluminium (lightweight and economical). The finish can be mirror polished, satin, brushed or aged, according to the architectural style of the location.

Commemorative plate with photo: photographic engraving on metal
A commemorative plate with a photo incorporates an image engraved by laser directly onto the metal surface. The laser reproduces the photograph in greyscale through a dot pattern that, on dark anodised stainless steel or aluminium, offers a high-fidelity and permanent result. This technique is common in memorial plaques, tributes and recognition awards where the portrait of the honoured person is to be included.
