Identification plates for machinery: standards and requirements
Identification plates for machinery are mandatory on equipment subject to CE marking, pressure vessel standards, machinery directive and sectoral regulations (ATEX, food, electromedical). The machinery identification plate must include, as a minimum, the manufacturer name, model, serial number, year of manufacture and main technical characteristics (power, pressure, weight).
The plate material must withstand the working environment conditions throughout the equipment service life. For this reason, industrial plates are manufactured in anodised aluminium, AISI 304/316 stainless steel or polyester-coated aluminium, depending on exposure to temperature, moisture, chemical products or abrasion.
Metal identification plates for equipment and assets
Metal identification plates are used not only on production machinery, but also on electrical panels, HVAC installations, fire suppression systems, lifts and industrial vehicles. Metal plates for equipment identification can include barcodes, QR codes, sequential numbering and manufacturer logo, engraved using techniques that guarantee permanent legibility.
Machine plates are supplied with fixing holes, industrial adhesive or blind rivets, depending on the equipment mounting method. Machine plates with variable data (serial number, date) can be engraved on demand to manage traceability piece by piece.
Industrial aluminium metal plates
Industrial aluminium metal plates are the most widely used option due to their balance of cost, weight and corrosion resistance. Anodised aluminium accepts high-contrast laser engraving (black mark on silver background) and multicolour screen printing for electrical diagrams, operating instructions and flow charts. Their low weight facilitates adhesive fixing, avoiding perforations in the equipment casing.
