Nameplate and CE Marking

Nameplate and CE marking plates are mandatory for all machinery manufactured or sold in Europe. They guarantee equipment traceability and provide information on technical specifications, serial number, voltage, power and applicable standards. Manufactured in durable materials, they must remain legible for a period even longer than the useful life of the equipment itself.

Nameplate: mandatory identification for machinery

Standard or custom signage with holes for riveting or screwing and/or self-adhesive. Metal support such as aluminium, stainless steel or brass and technical plastics such as polyester or polycarbonate. All machinery manufactured in Europe must bear its corresponding nameplate and CE marking. This marking guarantees the manufacturing origin in addition to a series of specific regulatory compliances for each particular application.

What is certain is that the nameplate and CE marking must be legible for a period even longer than the useful life of the equipment itself under the conditions in which it will be used. For this reason, anodised aluminium with PBaS® printing is the reference material: the ink is sealed inside the anodic layer, resisting solvents, oils and mechanical abrasion without degrading.

Types of nameplates according to application

Electric motor nameplates include data such as rated power, voltage, current, frequency, rotation speed, insulation class and IP protection rating. For transformers, transformation ratios, connection group and insulation level are added. For electrical panels, the plate must indicate rated voltage, short-circuit current and enclosure protection rating.

Each sector has specific requirements: the food industry requires materials suitable for indirect food contact, the railway sector requires resistance to extreme vibration, and ATEX installations need certified antistatic materials. Alumigraf adapts the material, technique and format to each case.
